As someone who grew up across the river from Woodstock (town not festival, although let’s have that chat), Aimee Mann played a massive role in my music education. She is a poet. Her music composition is unrivaled. Live performance below. The full mini-concert is worth the watch.
Here’s the deal: If Dave Bayley showed up and with a speaker and played this song, I would dance my face off no matter the environment. This song is pure joy.
From California? From a place where people from California move to? This is your jam. (For the cred: Portland and Denver)
The video is like an acid trip bordering on the wrong turn but not quite there yet. The song’s mood perfectly captures when three of my best friends and I followed the USMNT around Brazil. Meanwhile, the lyrics are literally about the corruption associated with said World Cup and the dude wrote it as a teenager. Solid all around. Also, while dressed like the kid from the Umbrella Academy, he rocks a live show (below).
OK. That last post was rough. Still not fully over it. But, let’s cleanse the palette with some seriously good stuff. Put Tom Petty on shuffle in any environment and everyone’s mood will immediately level up.
Here’s the deal. I hate Ohio. The entire state is literally my arch nemesis. So posting a song that is about Ohio (ew) is really tough. But, I’m on a very specific musical progression over my last few posts and also this song is about leaving Ohio so I think I can justify it.
I need a cowboy hat. Also, fun story: I went to college in the 302 and now I live in the 303. From blue and gold to orange and blue just like that.
Speaking of rocking out, these dudes know how to.
We all need to be a little more immature. Also Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers simply know how to rock out. Glastonbury 2022 below.
Literally nothing better than being somewhere and Tribe comes on…you immediately know who’s knows.
